|Title:||POPEY - How Can We Boost Social Emotional Learning Through Literacy?|
If your whole elementary school would like to attend this full-day session, please contact Sharon Wood at firstname.lastname@example.org to register.
How Can We Boost Social Emotional Learning Through Literacy?
Come explore how to meaningfully infuse Social Emotional Learning into our literacy instruction, as well as the impact of SEL on our classrooms and school community.
Step into the shoes of the kids as we read, write, talk, and play our way through a variety of stories and activities that intentionally connect to opportunities for Social Emotional Learning, including First Nations stories. We'll also have our teacher hats on and look at connections to the Core Competencies; as well as have time to collaborate with your whole-school team.
Together we will investigate:
the 'why' behind SEL and the SEL facets
opportunities to cultivate the school and classroom environment to foster and support SEL
mentor texts and literacy experiences that intentionally connect and highlight each facet of SEL, including authentic First Peoples stories and resources.
While POPEY's mandate is K-3 Literacy, we will explore options for K-8 students.
Please bring your own lunch.
